Flooring has been part of Matt’s life for more than 35 years. He began his career working as a floor fitter in his father’s flooring business, working across Sydney and Canberra and learning the trade from the “floor” up before eventually going out on his own.

Since then, Matt has worked across Australia and the UK, building extensive experience in both commercial and residential flooring. His commercial work has spanned a diverse range of industries and included projects for major organisations and brands such as Google, LG, Anglo American, Blackstone, Channel 4, Birds Eye, Ted Baker and Heathrow Airport. His residential experience is equally broad, ranging from individual rooms and renovations through to complete homes.

Now based in Canberra, Matt runs Mapin Flooring, working with homeowners, builders and other trades across vinyl, hybrid and laminate flooring, floating floors and carpet tiles.

After more than three decades on the tools, Matt brings more than technical skill to a job. He understands how different flooring products perform, can identify issues before they become problems and is happy to give clients straightforward advice about what will – and won’t – work.

For Matt, Mapin Flooring is about continuing the standards he learned when he first entered the trade: take pride in your workmanship, be reliable, and do the job properly.
